Reading
Fair

9th graders set up reading
and coloring stations in the HS gym and
media
center for the elementary students
-
2nd from Janvier School
attended Reading Fair on March 3
-
2nd from Aura School also attended Reading Fair on
March 3 and learned sign language.
-
9th graders preparing
books and practicing hat-making for event.
-
Storybook characters:
the Cat in the Hat, Cinderella, Belle, Jasmine, Juliet, Spiderman,
Lugi, the Fairy Godmother and Snow White visited with students.
-
9th graders from Ms. Williams', Mr. Hester's, Mrs.
Jernegan's, Mrs. Chamberlin's and Mrs.Alleva's
class read
their books that they had written to
the students. Books were written as part of a Learn and Serve Project.
Books will be displayed in the Franklin Township Public Library.

Guest readers from the Franklin Township (Officer
1, Officer 2) and Elk
Township Police Department shared books.

Elk Township Superintendent
took time to read during the celebration.

Special guest reader, Congressman
LoBiondo read to 2nd graders. He shared a moment with the Cat
in the Hat and the high school librarians.

9th graders assisted elementary
students with hat-making.
-
9th graders prepared writing
activities that they shared with the 2nd graders.
-
9th graders donated Horton Hears a Who by
Dr. Seuss to Janvier and Aura
Schools.

HS choral group shared song,
"We Love Dr. Seuss." (Click

9th graders attended Franklin Township Public Library
to hear storyteller, Laura Kaighn give them
tips on how to present their stories.

Event was funded by a grant from Ezra Jack Keats
Foundation for joint public and school library program.

Students had a chance to interact and present stories
as Robert and
Christian
had opportunities to practice.

Students also had a chance to make paper
frog as a storytelling device
