Program Description: The eighth grade Technology Exploratory Program is a nine week course designed to give students an insight into technology in the modern world. As part of the course, the students will understand the role television and video technology has played in our past, how it affects us presently, and how it may change our lives in the future. Emphasis will be placed on the use of technology in producing video. How television has affected society will be studied in relation to its cultural, social, economic and political effects. The course will also address the effects of technology on the environment. Students will also receive an introduction to basic computer design to give them a taste of the industrial design class at the high school.
Students will learn how television,video production and industrial design has affected our lifestyle. They will also learn abilities that will be used in the technological world, including various uses of the personal computer.
Program Purpose: The purpose of this program is to have the students utilize technology following the NJ TAP-IN rubric while also being introduced to potential elective classes that they may be able to take at the high school.
