Course Objectives
After completing the two week course students will be able to:

• understand the difference between a habitat garden and a strictly native garden site.
• identify and track relationships among organisms in a New Jersey Native Ecosystem.
• assess abiotic components of the ecosystem through chemical analysis of the soil.
• understand the importance of conservation of native habitats for the survival and diversity of species in a community.
• identify several native species as well as plants that play a key role in fulfilling the life cycle of birds and butterflies.

Course Outline
Day 1: Discuss key vocabulary for ecosystems and take a tour of the school's habitat and native garden sites.
