Gloucester County Championship Meet
On Friday, February 19, the Crusader swim team swam the meet of the decade. Breaking six school records, setting 13 personal best times, and walking away with one Gloucester County Champion, the team met many goals that had been set, and even surpassed some that were mere dreams....
The girls team finished 6th place in the final rankings. Kathy Pustizzi broke the school record in the 100yard backstroke, which was previously held by her sister. Our girls 200yard medley relay broke last year's school record with a time of 2:07.35. The relay consisted of Kathy Pustizzi, Lauren Borelli, Lisa Hardy, and Amanda Larkin. Lisa Hardy also took first place in the 50yard freestyle event, with a career best of :26.38
Delsea's boys' team finished 7th, breaking 4 school records in the process. Scott Bruck broke the record in the 100yard butterfly, which had been standing for 6 years, with a time of :57.82. Fredrick Whitson broke the overall school record for diving with a score of 159.40, also taking 2nd place in the Championship diving event. The boys' 200yard relay broke the previous 8-year standing record with a time of 1:40.07. The relay consisted of Carey Tatum, Jim Sullivan, Jon Voll, and Scott Bruck. The boys also broke the 9-year standing 400yard relay record with a time of 3:52.36. That relay consisted of Carey Tatum, Jim Sullivan, Kurt Wagner, and Scott Bruck.
The Crusader fish squad finished 7th overall, with many shining faces, and lots of enthusiasm about tonight's final Tri-County meet. This will be the final "harrah" for senior swimmers Carey Tatum, Alison Dadak, Scott Bruck, Lauren Borelli, Lisa Hardy, Heather Wright, and Jessica Trasferini. Good luck to all the swimmers, and thanks for a dedicated season of hard work.
